Hi everyone!  How's going?

Before  I came to Australia, I was very excited to have new experiences, but I was so worried  aboutnew environment. This is the reason why I had to do packing so many times to fit the limitation(23kg)
However, after coming to Australia, I realized that I was able to buy almost of all things I wanted to buy.

During my stay in Australia, I moved twice because of my host family.  It was not my fault, but it made me so worried.  However, accommodation staff were so kind and did their work so quickly that I was reassured.  Finally, I found the nice family.  The kids are so cute and nice.

And also, EAP2 was so hard for me.  In the 2nd session of this class, I had to write the essay about tourism.  This was the first time for me to write a long essay, so I was really upset during this session.  However I could improve my writing skills.

Every two session,  ICTEUQ  students  have one week vacation, so I went as many places as I could.  It was first time to organize trip from the beginning to the end.

It was my first time to stay away from my famdily, but thanks to friends and host family, I enjoyed stay in Australia so much.  One day I would like to come back Brisbane.

Hi everyone! How are you? We are going back to Japan in less than 2 month. Time has passed so fast.  In ICTE, the new session started last week.  I’m in GE6 now and there are many Japanese.  However, they are very motivated and they inspired me.

Today, I am going to talk about culture-related topic.

This week, our class had a lunch party and everyone brought some foods and snacks which are popular in each country.  I enjoyed eating Chinese and Korean and so on.

And alsomy host mother was born in Brisbane, so she is a native English speaker.  She makes a lot of kinds of dish such as Chinese (gelatin noodles, spring rain), Japanese (rice, sushi).  However, her mother is not a native speaker.  To listen to her English it is like Spanish English.  She sometimes cooks dinner for us, and she makes different and unique one.  It is difficult to describe, but it is like a South American foods.

Therefore, I can eat four different types (Australian, Japanese, Chinese and grandmother’s foods) of foods in my house.  In Brisbane, there are also many types of foods such as Mexican or Vietnamese.  Each food court has at least one Indian and Chinese restaurant.  I heard that sushi was not so popular 10 years ago, but it has been becoming famous recently.

In conclusion, I found that Australia is really multicultural country and people accept differences each other.  I’m glad to have many opportunities to try foods from quite a few countries.

Hi, I totally forgot to write this topic.  It is already a half year to be in Australia.  I get used to study English at ICTEUQ.   I have classmates from Taiwan, Russia, Chile, Peru, Brazil, Saudi Arabia and China.

One of the largest differences between studying in Japan and studying in English speaking countries seems to be opportunities to speak English.  In my country, there are less chance to meet others coming from other countries and we are not forced to speak English.  However, in ICTEUQ, we have to use English in order to express our own thought or idea to others and teachers.  There is no mean except speaking English.

Another difference can be teachers.  Teachers in ICTEUQ are of course native English speakers and have much knowledge about English.  They can answer detailed question, such as when can we use this words or negative or positive meaning.  My classmates do, as I said, come from different countries and it is very interesting to hear their stories about their own countries, such as traditional festivals and nature and attitude of people.  The school stands near the central of university and we have big library next to the school.  In addition, there are strict rules about food and drink.  We are not allowed to eat and drink in the class rooms.  However, this rule make rooms beautiful.

There are two more sessions in ICTEUQ and this session will be the most difficult session during my stay in Australia.  It might be difficult but, there are more room for improvement.  I will try harder as I can.

sydney

Hi! I would like to write about my trip to Sydney in the last brake.

I were there from 20th July to 24th July.   On the first day of Sydney, I arrived at airport two hours earlier than departure time.  It went good until then, however my plane was delayed for one hour.  I spent about 4 hours at airport and it was very boring.  After getting to Sydney, the shuttle bus did not come to the bus stop.  I had to go to my hotel by myself. It was almost 10 oclock when i arrived at my hotel.

The next day, I went to the blue mountain.  I visited Leura, which is a small town near the blue mountain.  The atmosphere was so good.  On the way to the Jenolan Cave, there was a serious car accident.  So, I had to change plan and went to the scenic world.  The guide gave me ultimate ticket and I could take Railway, Skyway and Walkway there.  It was foggy at first but it got sunny when I left the scenic world.  I could see the Three Sisters and the Katoomba Falls.  It was so great.  After the scenic world I went to the Featherdale Wildlife Park and saw many koala there.

The third of Sydney, I went to Bills and Gerato Messina.  Bills is famous for breakfast and I ate ricotta pancake there.  Messina makes ice cream without using artificial flavor, so, their ice was so jucy.  At night, I saw opera, cosi fan tutte in the opera house.  It was great experience for me.

On the forth day of Sydney, I went to the Lindts shop on the Martin place.  I knew that they did discount for lava cake.  It was half price and I could try it for only 6 dollars.  After Lindts,   I went to the Manly beach.  This is the place my last teacher recommended to go.  It was sunny and beautiful weather.  I could really enjoy my sightseeing.

On the fifth day of Sydney, flight time was 14:00 so there was not enough time to do something.  The shuttle bus came my hotel on time and the airplane left Sydney on time. My host mother came to the station to pick me up.

Differences between Australia and Japan

Hi! This is Rena.  Two month have passed since I came to Brisbane.  I enjoy my 3rd session in ICTE-UQ.  In the last break, I went to Gold Coast and Melbourne with my friend.  They were short trip but I could enjoy both cities.  I would like to tell you about the differences between Australia and Japan.

One of the differences I have experienced is the number of people who exercise outside.  There are many cyclists on road and people who enjoy jogging especially in the morning.  Both men and women enjoy activities.  On my way to school, I can see many cyclists and jogger.  Moreover, I was surprised to see that there were some people walking on road with bear foot.

Other differences between Australia and Japan is that I can hear many different languages in city.  Of course, I can hear various languages in ICTE-UQ but also I can hear those in the outside of school.  it is different from Japan.  There are Chinese, Spanish ,Korean and Arabian and so on.  It is very interesting to hear and guess what they say in their own language.

These are the differences I came up with.  Thank you for reading!

Hello!

Since I came to Brisbane, it has passed about one month.  It is my first time to stay abroad so long time, and I felt very nervous.  However I am able to accustomed to lifestyle in Australia and relieved now. Fortunately, my house is near the UQ, so I walk to school every day.

In Brisbane, I can do a lot of things which I can not do in Japan.  I went to the eat street market the other day in Hamilton.  It is held on Friday and Saturday night.  I was afraid to walk at night but I found a friend who lives near my house, so I decided to go there.  It was good decision to go there.  We could enjoy meals all around the world and feel atmosphere.  We ate beef steaks, fish and chips and chocolate fondue.  They were very tasty. We went there by bus.  We are not allowed to drive a car, so the most useful and important transportation is bus.  We came back our house by ferry.  Ferry is also important transportation to us.  The landscape was very nice.  I was very glad to decide to get on ferry then.

There are many people coming from different nationality in ICTE UQ.  There were people from China, Peru, Korea, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia in my class.  It was very exciting to talk with them and know each other.  They have own accent when they speak English and it was very hard to understand sometimes.  I could not understand what they said at first.  However, I can understand that more now.  I would like to improve my English skills better during my stay in Australia.
